Gifts For Muslim Wedding

Are you looking for creative Islamic wedding gifts? On an Islamic wedding gifts shopping expedition? Your friend or a family relation or co-worker is set to get married and you don’t want to give predictable gifts like clothes, watches, flowers or money. You want to gift a bespoke present that evokes the essence of marriage. A kind of gift that a couple would cherish and would like to display in their house.

What exactly is a “Muslim” or “Islamic” wedding gift? Well, it has a “Muslim” or “Islamic” value to it. For example, a calligraphy of a verse from the Holy Quran that explains the essence of marriage qualifies to be a Muslim or Islamic wedding gift, or even a wedding anniversary gift for that matter.

Since time immemorial, marriage has been counted among the most significant events in the life of a person. Why? Because it comes with duties and responsibilities as well as privileges and benefits. It comes with hugs and tears, comfort and compromise.

Allah, the Most Wise, has given specific instructions to man and wife in the Holy Quran.

In the 21st verse of Surah Al Room, He says: “And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.”

Allah helps the husband and the wife by placing between them affection and compassion. Thus, now it’s incumbent on the couple to value this blessing, and give each other love and mercy. Or else, it would be a tough ride to find comfort within one another.

In 187th verse of Surah Al Baqarah in the Glorious Quran, Allah says, “They (your wives) are a garment for you and you are a garment for them.” Like the absence of a layer between the body and the cloth, there should be no gap in communication or trust between the husband and the wife  – and they should be able to share their deepest thoughts with each other. Like a garment’s protection of our bodies from dirt, grime and climatic vagaries, a couple should guard one another from their foes as well as worldly nastiness. Like a garment covering up our physical beings, including our parts associated with shame, a man and woman should cover up each other’s faults. Like a garment’s beautification of us, a couple should enhance each other’s grace. The metaphor of ‘garment’ used for both husband and wife suggests equal responsibility in keeping the marriage intact.

The Holy Quran therefore makes clear the importance of marriage. A framed work of calligraphy of a verse from the Holy Quran can make for a memorable work. So if you are on an Islamic wedding gifts shopping expedition, you would have got an idea by now. You can look for creative Islamic wedding gifts like these for your own spouse and display in your house as a beautiful spiritual reminder.
