How I Turned from Engineering to Cooking Profession?

To quit the profession is so tough, especially when you are not very well off. Did you experience quitting your profession and now working in a profession totally different from your previous one? People do, I put my example first. I was an engineer but not satisfied with my profession. Every day I go on the site, was to manage the unwanted things which never satisfied me a single day. But a very important thing in your life I then realized is, you should think of is self-realization and identify a job where you feel yourself fit.

It is not too late, Identify your skills and move on

To know that what you want to do in life is very important. Then to stick on it is important to pursue your next profession. For you, it will be a great opportunity if you are rethinking your career and want to become what you always wanted to become. That opportunity came into my life and I regard those moments the very lucky one, those were very crucial moments of my life and played a great role. The question is what next? I did plenty of things after this step which one has to take to move on. I followed the steps to become Chef and then turned to the profession of cooking, it was so funny transition. Now I’m living with more satisfaction, fun, I’m living the actual life now in fact. I will share my experiences with you and will guide you step by step to become Chef too; if you want to come along, let’s explore the idea together.

Assess yourself at home’s kitchen

The idea came into my mind to make a fruit salad, which I never made before, believe me, and boiled rice with Chicken Curry. I was not alone, my mom was there to guide me on what to do, and when to do. So it was a cool experience to make something on my own. I was so excited, then my mom said, this was only the one lesson. You will make at least 10 famous dishes to get a nominal job at any local restaurant. If you are waiting to have a cooking skill itself, you are wrong. Get up and have something delicious to make this evening.

Get an internship at some local restaurant, or take classes

It is not enough to cook something at home and the same experience would not be enough to get a professional job in the market. It was the time I got assistance from the internet as you are doing. What you should do to check the online availability of courses in your town or go to check the local restaurants if they are offering any cooking internship. I got an internship for three months with a smart amount of stipend. You will also learn by observations by this period, for example, don’t stop to cook at home and don’t stop try foods at restaurants. By this, I personally learned a lot, before these experiences I didn’t have an idea of how foods are cooked at home and restaurants. I worked in a restaurant where the traditional dishes were used to make, it was a credit on my side. I had an experience of traditional and fast foods and could achieve soon what I thought.

Reading, watching the cooking content was my credit

My plus point which made me adapt and learn cooking very easily was a habit of reading and watching cooking programs. It introduced me to the worldly recipes of dishes cooked all around. I’m now able to cook various Chinese, French, Asian, and African traditional and famous dishes. It was because of the dedication to cooking as a profession, and my eager to learn more and more in this profession. You should also watch the cooking programs on Youtube and want to seek how to cook different dishes.

Get any certificate training

Certificate after the completion of my internship boosted me up for my professional career. It helped me find a better job. It will boost up your career too. Another important thing I learned during my working days, I learned to read and sign the right contract with the employer. I learned to bargain for the salary. This was great learning I regard and thanks to my first employer who taught me such things for the next professional career. Remember, a contract for eight hours job and specified roles of your job written is very important to have knowledge of. You as a worker of any profession reserves your proper rights with the legal authority.

Learning attitude is important

Anything in your life is not the last full stop I always learned in my life. Learning behavior always gives you the proper way to progress. Before joining, to know that every institution has its own hierarchy is very important. I was not appointed as a senior chef in the start. When I joined a restaurant, I was appointed as a junior chef who makes light things and not responsible for any major role. With time I have been promoted on the bigger levels and then I enjoyed the real scoops of my profession.

Move on and on.

What does this mean now? It actually means that your learning should not stop here. I started with the little local restaurant in California, and now doing a job in a 5-star hotel in Germany. The opportunities brought me to Spain and Italy too, Now in Germany. I’m not stuck here too, can move to any part of the world. I do have confidence because I learned a lot and hundreds of the dishes cooked in various parts of the earth. You should be learning new and new recipes and new to new skills to be in the top class chefs in town. If you get any good opportunity abroad, you should get the experience I suggest.
